Flaxseed oil is obtained from flax seeds (Linum usitatissimum):

- by cold pressing,

- by hot pressing

- by extraction

European flaxseed contains up to 30% oil, while East Indian can contain up to 40%. The most important component of flaxseed oil is linolenic acid, which causes the oil to dry in combination with oxygen from the air (oxidative-drying oil). Since flaxseed oil dries relatively slowly (depending on composition and external conditions 5-12 days), drying agents - siccatives are added to it. Thus, siccative flaxseed oil is called flax firn or flaxseed oil with siccatives.
